Anthropomorphism in machines is antithetical to progress, as I've explained here.

But now that Hinton has ascended to demigodhood thanks to those people in Sweden, neural networks and its associated "get everything to look/work humanlike in some vague way" anthropomorphic paradigm has achieved best-thing-since-sliced-bread status.

I predict paradigm lock for the next 100 to 200 years as actual progress in computational paradigm is held back unless something out of left field like quantum computing makes the mistaken anthropomorphic paradigm obsolete. I'm not holding my breath.

Explanation on why neural networks is a bad tech in my other post here.
